Coiled wines is a new small-production wine label dedicated to crafting elegant wines from Snake River Valley grapes. Winemaker Leslie Preston draws her winemaking experience from the Napa Valley, which she now calls home. She has a degree in Enology from U.C. Davis, and has worked at Clos du Bois, Saintsbury, and Stags' Leap Winery in California. However, when the time came to make wine under her own label, Preston returned to her Idaho roots to source the grapes. Convinced that Idaho wines can and will rival those from the Northwest, Preston embraces the challenge of working with grapes from her native state while living in the Napa Valley. Coiled made its debut with one wine, a 2008 Snake River Valley Syrah. Preston will most likely keep her focus on Syrah because she believes Syrah is one of Idaho's most promising varietals. As the Coiled label grows, Preston hopes to produce different Syrah blends that showcase all the grape has to offer in Idaho.
